Korean has around 80 million native speakers worldwide, and uses Hangul (한글), the Korean alphabet invented in the 15th century by King Sejong and his advisors. Unlike other East Asian languages, Korean is not tonal which does make it feel more accessible to beginner learners. As many aspects of Korean culture have gone viral worldwide, more and more people are putting Korean at the top of their 'to study' list - to visit the bustling cities of Seoul and Busan to taste their favourite Korean food, to better understand their favourite Korean dramas or just to immerse themselves in a challenge of a new language.
